Sheboygan, WI - A local man arrested by police last week for exposing himself at a local internet cafe is an alleged Facebook stalker.
Police were called to the local business where they found David Zambisi, 22, of Sheboygan exposing himself and “molesting” the computer he had hired. One patron saw the incident take place and immediately called the police.
“I was shocked,” said Sandro Philpe, 19. “I was playing Counter-Strike and saw this guy out of the corner of my eye climbing up on the table. When I looked over he had his pants down and was like rubbing himself all over the monitor and keyboard. I called the cops right away. It was so weird and gross.”
The owner of the cafe, Jim Edwards, said he had never seen anything like this in the nearly ten years he had been in the business. “Nothing ever even close to this. I mean when you’re dealing with the public you see some strange things, meet some strange people, but this is just so weird. And now I’m going to have to buy new equipment.”
Police were quick to bring the man to prison where his questioning brought up some unsettling new issues.
“He was quick to admit that he is a Facebook stalker. He even used those words,” said police spokesperson Sgt. Anne Fashon. “He apparently spends hours and hours on it every day; he doesn’t even have any friends. It’s the site itself he’s obsessed with and that’s what he was doing at the cafe.”
He has been charged with one count of indecent exposure. Police say there will be no charges in relation to his activities on the social networking website.
When reached for comment, Zambisi’s mother spoke with us briefly. “I don’t really bother him when he’s in his room. He’s an adult. I know he’s a big fan of the site, he talks about it all the time and he’s got pictures of it all over his room, but I didn’t think he had gone this far. We just want to get him through this and get him home.”
Zambisi will see the judge tomorrow. It is unclear if his court appointed lawyer will be exploring any kind of sanity defence.
“I can’t really comment on the case. It does appear that this young man has a significant interest in this particular website, but that is not necessarily the cause of this incident. We will be looking at the facts of the case.”
When contacted for comment, Facebook officials declined our request.
