FOX NEWS AND SARAH PALIN TO INTRODUCE LAP CHATS

February 7 2010

New York, NY – It seems like only yesterday that a fresh-faced Sarah Palin burst onto the American political scene as one of them most unlikely of Vice-Presidential candidates in the nation’s history. Since those heady days, Palin has become a fixture sara palin dumb
of not only the Republican Party but also of the American pop culture landscape. Whether the butt of jokes, or the future of the conservative movement, there has been no shortage of ink being spilled on Palin and her incredible rise to prominence that seems to be only gaining speed.

In her strange rise from small town mayor, to small state Governor, to Vice-Presidential candidate, to full-fledged political celebrity Palin has maintained the quirky charm that has made her so popular. It is that charm, and political leanings, that inevitably paired her with Fox News as a regular contributor. The success or failure of that particular endeavour still remains to be seen of course, but if Fox regular Chris Wallace has anything to say about it, she will be around for a long time to come. Wallace, the son of legendary reporter Mike Wallace, suggested on Thursday that he would like to conduct an interview with Palin while she sat on his lap, sparking a minor outrage. While it remains to be seen whether or not Palin will in fact share a seat with Wallace, the idea has apparently sparked a fresh outlook on her potential at the network.chris wallace

“Frankly, no one thought of it for some reason. Now everyone is kind of smacking their heads because it is just so obvious. They are apparently mulling whether or not it’s a workable idea from a practical standpoint. Palin will likely be fine with it for a lot of reasons, but doing it will really change the interview dynamic,” said a Fox News insider. “There have been a number of hosts who have stepped up and requested these lap interviews with Palin and so the network is trying to make it work somehow in the hopes that it will further their dominance of cable news.”

Critics have suggested that the sexual connotations of having a female guest conduct and interview on the lap of a male interviewer could turn the news into a glorified strip club, but the network appears undaunted.lap dance

“They get the sexual side of it. They are conservative which means they are in the clubs every night so they get it, but they don’t quite see it that way. Palin gets press but everyone, even Roger Ailes, gets what she is and they have a hard time thinking about her in that way. This is more like a child sitting on a father’s lap than it is anything sexual,” continued the insider. “It could be used for people other than Palin as well such as Carrie Prejean if anyone still wants to talk to her. I doubt it could be used for say Ann Coulter though. I’ve seen her in real life and she’s way bonier than she looks on TV. That would just hurt in so many ways.”sarah palin hot

It’s not clear if female interviewers would be obligated to sit on the laps of male guests.

“Fox News has a lot of critics and from a news perspective much of that is well earned. They have a very obvious slant and many of their programs eschew traditional tenets of journalism such as impartiality and fairness in favour of supporting that agenda. That said, they have truly radicalized the cable news industry,” said Scrape TV Media analyst Sarah Piper. “They have left competitors like CNN and MSNBC in the dust not just because they have the opposing viewpoint, but because they offer such a clear and distinct manner of execution. That is just one of their many innovations and this lap interviewing will likely only add to that reputation.”

Glenn Beck is reportedly trying to figure out how to interview himself on his own lap.
