KATE GOSSELIN THE ONLY ONE SURPRISED NETWORKS DON’T WANT HER NEW SHOW
May 25 2012
New York, NY – For years, a decade or more, TV fans have been lamenting the rise of reality shows. Really, since the launch of ‘Survivor’ that type of lament has been common. That show inspired a rush to reality television which really hasn’t abated yet, spawning entire networks and massively popular shows such as ‘American Idol’.
Reality TV, it seems, is not going anywhere. While there are certainly many reasons why reality shows have done so well, the simple fact of the matter is that they stay on the air and propagate because people watch them. Millions of people, in fact, watching regularly and until that ends the shows will continue.
Not all shows will continue though. True, ‘Survivor’ and ‘American Idol’ appear to be in it for the long haul but other, smaller shows seem to have a more limited lifespan. Perhaps owing to similar stories or just the familiarity of the characters, shows about specific people tend to have a shorter life span, something Kate Gosselin has found out the hard way. Once that star of one of the hottest shows on TV, Gosselin has now found herself in the wilds of TV without a show to call her own, something completely baffling to her despite it making perfect sense to everyone else.
“They’ve recently been saying, ‘When are we going to go here or there? We miss the crew,” Gosselin said of her kids who she swears love growing up TV. “We’re hoping our TLC contract is over -- so we’re hoping to move forward and do more fun projects. Fans are begging, 'They’ve grown up, they’ve turned eight, what are you doing?’ and so we’re hoping to put that out there for them.”
Gosselin of course first made it big with her show ‘Jon and Kate plus 8’ which followed her delivery of a litter of children.
That show in multiple incarnations lasted seven seasons which should have been more than enough to have secured a future for Gosselin and her many children but apparently not in the style to which they have become accustomed.
“It has to be very hard to go from being in demand one minute to being totally ignored the next. I’m sure there was a period when people came to her and now it appears she can’t even get into see the same people. That has to be a difficult adjustment for anyone,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “It also has to be difficult when you are trying to support such a large family. Obviously having that many children requires a lot of money and that’s what TV brings. Without TV though times have to be a little tougher, especially when you don’t want to work which Gosselin clearly does not want to do.”
Prior to her television career Gosselin was a nurse while now ex-husband Jon was a professional douche, a career he has apparently resumed.
“From what I’ve heard people don’t even want to take meeting with Gosselin in large part because they don’t really want her show, any show in fact, involving her or her ridiculous number of kids. I suppose she could start her own network but that kind of thing takes a lot of money and effort. She has the labour, no doubt, but I would bet she lacks the will to makes something like that happen,” continued Temple. “I doubt this will be the last we hear of Gosselin because she is just that kind of person but I don’t expect we will see her on TV anytime soon. People are just sick of those characters.”
Jon Gosselin is apparently not interested in returning to TV which works out just perfect for everyone.
