KANYE WEST OFFERS UNINTERRUPTED APOLOGY TO TAYLOR SWIFT
September 13 2009
Los Angeles, CA – There are many things that Kanye West has done that have shocked and surprised the public and the music industry. From outbursts to claiming the crown of the King of Pop, West has become better known for his antics than his

music in recent years. It is such an outburst that he is currently riding after snatching the microphone from 19-year Taylor Swift at the MTV Music Awards on Sunday. That stunt has prompted outrage from across the musical spectrum with even his most ardent supporters seeming to fall away.
Not one to take such criticism lying down, West has already come forward and apologized to Swift, who was receiving her first ever MTV Music Award. Though Swift has not yet responded to the rambling apology, it is expected that she will eventually make peace with the singer. Still the debate over West and his outbursts continues to rage. Just months after claiming Michael Jackson’s throne, West’s actions have once again set him against the world and it is not exactly clear if he will be forgiven his latest transgression.
“The real question we need to be asking is not whether or not he was out of line or whether or not he was drunk. The real question we need to ask about Kanye West is whether or not he is suffering from serious mental or emotional disorder that prohibits him from acting rationally, particularly in public, and whether or not he should be allowed to wander around without supervision,” said Scrape TV Psychology analyst Dr. Sarah Welp. “Because he is famous and successful his ![]()
transgressions are acceptable. They are almost seen as a part of the package because artists are supposed to act a little funny. It gets to a point though where we have to consider the possibility that something else might be going on in his head and that he may need real help and supervision.”
West has had outbursts at other awards shows in the past, most of which have only added to his persona.
“The real issue here isn’t the fact that he has these incidents it’s the fact that they continue to happen. People make mistakes and do stupid things but most people learn from those incidents and don’t engage in that kind of behaviour again. That is what a healthy and sensible person behaves like but that is not what Kanye
West does,” continued Welp. “It could be that he is suffering from something akin to Asperger Syndrome or it could be a mild form of mental retardation. That could have been brought about as the result of a blow to the head or could have been present from birth. West obviously needs some kind of attention and should really be under a doctor’s care so that he doesn’t end up hurting himself or somebody else. This incident was entertaining and amusing but the next one might not be.”
It’s believed that many in the music industry, specifically West’s record label, have pushed him to pursue treatment. It’s believed that because of his stardom such treatment would be conducted privately and not subject to outbursts from other patients.
“Hollywood traditionally doesn’t go in for treatment of mental or emotional problems.
They often allow stars to cover up such things with alcohol and drugs and then pursue treatment for that problem. There is a kind of blinders-on mentality in regards to mental illness as long as the people involved continue to make money. With West though the issue is he just doesn’t drink or use drugs enough to necessitate treatment,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “The real problem is that someone will have to step in and interrupt his life. That is a hard thing to do and it often goes over poorly in patients, particularly if they have a large persona and ego. No one likes that kind of interruption.”
Taylor Swift for her part apparently suffers from no mental or emotional disorders.
