GHOST OF NICOLE KIDMAN TO PRESENT AT GOLDEN GLOBES

Los Angeles, CA – It is very unlikely that The Golden Globes will ever reach the prestige or importance of its sibling award program presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science but has done fairly well unto itself. Presented every
year since 1944 by the enigmatic Hollywood Foreign Press, the Globes has carved out a position of respectability in recent years, frequently forecasting the big awards and providing the Hollywood community with one it’s best opportunities to dress up and behave like stars.
Despite the lower ranking nature of the Globes most in the community are eager to embrace the awards, hoping that success there will lead to success with the bigger brother later in the year. Because of that the awards have always drawn big stars as presenters, and this year is no different. With Heavy-Hitters such as Steven Spielberg and Leonardo Dicaprio already aboard to present at this year’s show, the Academy has also announced that the ethereal spirit of Nicole Kidman will also be making an appearance despite that fact that Kidman herself is reportedly still alive and well. Nonetheless, the ghostly presence will likely bring a great deal of attention to the presentation which is coming in a year that has seen more than a few stars turn to the spirit world already.
“We are very pleased that so many of Hollywood’s best and brightest will be joining us on January 17. This year has been one of the greatest in the history of our town with some of the strongest and most compelling performances ever before put on screen and our show will be a reflection of that,” said the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in a statement. “Alongside such luminaries as Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Colin Farrell and Robert DeNiro we are pleased to announce that Nicole Kidman will also be present, at least in spirit, adding to stellar line up as we present the best of Hollywood.”
It’s not clear where the mortal version of Kidman will be while her spirit presents, nor how exactly this has been accomplished, but NBC is hoping it will bring more attention to the show.
“The Globes have been more of a novelty than anything else with even the general public more or less not taking it all that seriously but this could change things forever, making the Globes the big player on the block. I’m sure the Academy will try and one-up them but it will be difficult to say the least,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “Of course this spirit has been well known around Hollywood for many years and for the majority of people it’s very difficult to tell the difference between the living and the spiritual version of Kidman. That could devalue this gimmick a little bit, but I’m sure that more than a few people will be tuning in just to get a glimpse of the other world.”
Kidman, the corporeal version it is believed, recently starred in the musical ‘Nine’ which is up for a number of Golden Globe awards.
“There have been a number of spirits floating around Hollywood in recent years, people like Cate Blanchett and more recently Mischa Barton have apparently separated their immortal spirit and their body, but this is the first time anyone has been able to snag them for an awards show. Very fitting considering the year the town has had this year,” continued Temple. “If this is a hit though, you can bet that a lot more stars will be making the move. Hollywood is, if nothing else, great at catching onto popular trends.”
Recently Harold Ramis announced that the next instalment of the ‘Ghostbusters’ franchise will be filming next summer.
