GEENA DAVIS JUST AS DISAPPOINTED IN HER CAREER AS EVERYONE ELSE

Hollywood, CA – For some people life never seems to get going. For others it seems to start and stall. For a rare few life explodes, giving them success beyond their wildest dreams. Some people start fast and stall late, while others become late
bloomers. Life carries no promises for anyone, no matter the background, no matter the family into which they are born. No matter what we believe when we are young the realities of real life and the real world often surprise us in both good ways and bad.
Such has been the case with actress Geena Davis who like everyone else has had her ups and downs. For Davis, life started fast. Working as a model, a semi-finalist in the Olympics, and eventually a hugely successful career as a Hollywood actor gave Davis a huge head start. Sure, there were ups and downs including two failed marriages by her mid-thirties, but the good, including an Academy Award, still gave her a pretty solid net result. Unfortunately, in recent years things haven’t gone so well. Once the highest paid actress in Hollywood, Davis has been reduced to small parts in small movies and direct to DVD projects that few people see. A single season of a poorly received television show aside, Davis’ career hasn’t quite lived up to early expectations, including those of the actress herself who is just as disappointed as everyone else.
“She’s good, I mean she’s comfortable with life but there is a part of her that is really upset that things didn’t go a lot better. I mean she realizes that she’s had a great life and she’s very lucky but she wanted more, she feels like she could have contributed more to society but that’s all gone now,” said a Davis insider. “She wanted a Meryl Streep career but that hasn’t happened and it’s not going to happen and that is upsetting. She really feels like she had something more to contribute but life just didn’t work out that way. Mostly though she’s sorry for the fans.”
Davis did appear in the hit ‘Stuart Little’ films in supporting roles, but her career has been stalled since the disastrous one-two punch of ‘Cutthroat Island’ and ‘The Long Kiss Goodnight’.
“The history of the Academy Awards is littered with performers and artists who never lived up to their potential. For most of those though they probably won the awards undeservingly and so their career decline was simply stalled by the award. That really wasn’t the case for Davis though,” said Scrape TV Entertainment analyst Tracey Temple. “She was already a big star by the time she won the award and her performance in ‘Thelma and Louise’ was terrific and well deserving of the award. Unfortunately, it was also the beginning of the end. The pressure it created to be a big star led her into some questionable choices that ultimately tanked her career.”
Davis’ most recent film ‘Accidents Happen’ was just recently released on DVD and Blu-ray.
“The reality is that there are very few roles for older women in Hollywood and virtually all
of those are given to Meryl Streep but even if they weren’t, odds are they wouldn’t be given to Geena Davis. The reality is an entire generation has passed since she was a star and she is simply not bankable anymore meaning that no big roles are likely to come her way,” continued Temple. “She’s probably okay financially but artists don’t do the work just for money, they do it for the art, neither of which Davis seems to be doing it for anymore. Luckily she’s married to a plastic surgeon so she probably doesn’t really need to work anyway.”
Davis reportedly has an IQ in the upper 2 percent of the world, which hasn’t helped her much recently.
