SPIKE LEE DISPUTES BERNIE MAC DEATH STORIES

New York,NY - With the tragic death of comedian and actor Bernie Mac the entertainment world has been plunged into mourning. The affable and loved Mac died Saturday at the age of 50, the result of complications from pneumonia and Sarcoidosis. While tributes from fellow celebrities and fans have been pouring in, director Spike Lee has used the tragedy as a lightening rod to stir up controversy.

“People don’t die from Pneumonia when they are 50 years old,” said Lee in a statement. “Bernie Mac died as a result of neglect and poor medical care. Black people receive substandard care in America, everyone knows that, and Bernie was just another victim of that. It shows that America will never truly accept the black man, especially if they are rich and successful.”

Lee also went on to discuss the rampant rumours about Mac’s death that have been spreading since the actor was hospitalized last week. “People were saying that he was dead last week. That just shows that something was up. I think they were planning some kind of execution and word got out early. The whole thing sounds like a conspiracy to me.”

For the record, Mac died as a result of Sarcoidosis, a serious chronic ailment, the latest bout of which was brought on by pnuemionia.

Lee of course is no stranger to controversy or making outlandish statements, the most recent of which sparked a war of words between himself and legendary filmmaker and actor Clint Eastwood. Representatives for Bernie Mac dismissed the director’s statements.

“Bernie was a dear friend and a wonderful man. This is not the time to bring up silly and ridiculous statements. Our thoughts and prayers should be with Bernie’s family and friends at this time. There is no conspiracy. Bernie was very ill and unfortunately succumbed to that illness. We will have no more statements in respect to Mr. Lee.”

Though there is no evidence that Mac’s death was anything but a horrible tragedy, the controversial director, for whom Mac starred in 'The Original Kings of Comedy', was undaunted. “They are using his death to sell newspapers and get website hits. They let a black man die, and then exploit him for all he’s worth. I’m not going to let this rest. We will get to the bottom of this and not let them exploit another black man.”

Mac’s death has been of course front page news throughout the United States, but no one but Lee is suggesting that it has anything to do with some kind of conspiracy. Scrape News spoke to a writer for Fox News who spoke with anonymously.

“Bernie Mac was well loved from what we understand, and this story is just tragic. I guess of course it doesn’t matter to a guy like Spike Lee. Of course it doesn’t really matter much to us either, we all know the old adage ‘if it bleeds it leads’ and Fox isn’t one to buck that trend. Honestly, we’ll use it as long as it’s getting us action.
