BASHAR ASSAD HAS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN SYRIA THAT’S WHY HE’S STICKING AROUND AND KILLING PEOPLE

Damascus, Syria – There were many lessons learned by all sides in the battles that brought down the leadership in places such as Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya, some good, some bad. One lesson that people certainly learned was that the will of the people could end tyranny. Tyrant, though, also learned a lesson, that rebellions needed to be stomped out aggressively and firmly.
That is clearly a lesson Bashar al-Assad learned from watching his peers fall from power and though he has had mixed results in his own country, he has no doubt learned something those other leaders failed to understand; that the people have power and it must be crushed at all costs.
Those costs have most assuredly been very high for Assad and Syria. Thousands of people are dead, entire cities have been reduced to rubble, government officials have defected and there is likely no chance that Assad’s reputation will ever be anything other than that of a brutal dictator. From the outside, the case has looked like a loser from the start and it seemed obvious that Assad should just accept one of the many outs he has been given. Assad has not done that, though, and continued to kill people and now it is clear why, because of money, lot’s money, money he really, really wants to keep.
“They did not want to talk about a success fee. At this point it’s too risky, they don’t know how much they can trace and how much they can recover,” said Ismael Darwish who is one of many hunting for Assad’s hidden billions, billions he presumably wants to keep even at the expense of destroying his country.
It’s believed that much of the money is hidden inside Syria and would be difficult to transport safely should he accept asylum.
It’s not clear if any of those offers of asylum, are even good anymore, though a quick payment could change their minds.
“You always knew there had to be a reason for Assad not getting out while the getting was good and now we know what that reason was, is in fact. I mean it’s one thing to get out with your life but he has spent so much time and energy, as did his father, stealing these billions from nation and it would be a shame to just lose it all and see it in foreign hands,” said Scrape TV Middle East analyst David Gershwin. “Clearly he wants to keep the money in Syria, in his hands of course but at least the money is still in the hands of a Syrian and not foreigners who just can’t wait to take the nation’s wealth and resources.”
Amongst other places that money would go is the United States and the families of two Iraq-based contractors who were awarded a cool $413 million after a court found Assad’s government provided resources to their killers.
“I would bet that the majority of that money, should it be found, will end up outside Syria and of course that is something Assad does not want. Clearly the man cares about his nation, I mean he is willing to kill everyone inside it rather than see it go out there into the dangerous real world and losing all that money would be horrendous to him,” continued Gershwin. “It’s a challenge, no doubt, for Assad and his people but one they are clearly up to facing. He wants to keep Syria for Syrians or to just see it destroyed and that, well that’s love. Tough love, bloody love, but still love.”
Assad presumably also really, really likes having lots of money as most people would of course.
