PUTIN READY TO DO WHATEVER HE WANTS WITH NUCLEAR WEAPONS BECAUSE HE IS PUTIN
October 21 2012
Moscow, Russia – In the last twenty years, since the collapse of the Soviet Union, much has changed in the life and destiny of Russia. The core of that was, of course, the collapse of the Union which itself has led to dramatic shifts and changes in the course of history for the country, most of which has been led, of late, by Vladimir Putin.
Putin has of course exhibited an almost supernatural hold over the state of Russia for the last fifteen years, able to manipulate and control the nation to his will for much of that time. The times, though, they are a changing and Putin has started to change with them, becoming more aggressive and obstinate rather than inclusive.
At this stage, that shift seems to be working. There have been troubles for Putin, no doubt, but no full out rebellion. How long that stability holds is of course up for debate but for now Putin still exerts an incredible degree of control over his country, power he is using to play with nuclear weapons again in presumably an effort to show the world what a tough guy he is, still is.
“Exercises of the strategic nuclear forces were conducted on such a scale for the first time in the modern history of Russia,” said the Kremlin in statement. “Vladimir Putin gave a high evaluation to the combat units and crews and the work of the Armed Forces General Staff, which fulfilled the tasks before them and affirmed the reliability and effectiveness of Russia's nuclear forces.”
It’s not clear what the tests actually involved or the actual reason was for doing them but they happened.
Putin has been suffering some confidence issues at home of late and these tests could be part of an effort to scare people into compliance.
“Clearly the nuclear age has not ended. It seemed for a little while, in the wake of the end of the Soviet Union, that the whole thing was going to slip away into the past and that nukes would just kind of fade away but clearly that has not happened. Nuclear weapons are as prominent and potent as ever, something Putin clearly loves,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “There is no doubt that nuclear weapons are pretty tough and Putin like being tough because, well, he just does and clearly setting off nuclear weapons is part of being tough. I would bet he even ripped his shirt off while the tests were happening, which is so Putin.”
It’s not clear how close Putin was to the detonation or if he even needed protection from the radiation.
“I doubt that this is the start of anything major or significant at all because, well, it just won’t be. Putin talks tough pretty much all the time but actually being tough is something much different and certainly something he has had trouble with, especially since his country seems ready to tear itself apart,” continued Hander. “However the impression of toughness can go a long way. It can go nowhere as well of course but it can go a long way and that will certainly help him, if it does, but if it doesn’t then it doesn’t matter at all and they are setting off nukes for no reason.”
Putin apparently really, really liked the tests so that’s something.
