U.S. THROWING SUPPORT BEHIND IRANIAN NUCLEAR PROGRAM

March 1 2009

Tehran, Iran – According to top U.S. military officials, the Iranian military now has enough fissile material to build a nuclear weapon. Officials have long held the belief, despite protestations to the contrary, that the Iranian government has been exploring development of nuclear weaponry and now believe that they are on the verge of achieving the long sought after goal. While still a long way from creating an actual nuclear bomb, U.S. officials are watching the country with keen interest and reportedly are ready to jump in to help whenever the Iranians make a request.nuclear missile

“They're not close to a stockpile, they're not close to a weapon at this point and so there is some time,” said Defence Secretary Robert Gates. “Our chances of being successful, it seems to me, are a lot better at $35 or $40 oil than they were at $140 oil because there are economic costs to this program, they do have economic challenges at home.”

It’s those challenges that the United States government is seeing as the major obstacle to Iranian nuclear proliferation, challenges the U.S. is uniquely qualified to help the radical Islamist nation to overcome.french nuclear test

“The United States is the inventor of the nuclear bomb and despite changes and challenges over the last 65 years she is still the major player when it comes to weapons of mass destruction. The U.S. has the resources, the engineers, and the leftover fissile material to really kick the Iranian program into high gear,” said Scrape TV International Arms Trade analyst Mohit Hattangady. “The Iranians have really taken on the challenges that have been set before them and despite perhaps the most challenging times in their history, they have overcome. They have met the U.S. challenges and are now ready to reap the rewards.”shah of Iran

The Iranian - U.S. relations have been severely strained over the last 30 years when Ayatollah Khomeini led the Islamic revolution that overthrew the U.S. installed leader Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. While tense, the two countries have stayed firmly on each other’s radars and have routinely talked about each other, though never directly to one another.

“It’s long been obvious to outside observers that these two countries still had something going on between them; unfinished business that hopefully they can now get together and talk about like adults. With Iran now nearly a full fledged nuclear power perhaps it’s time that the two of them got together to resolve their issues,” continued Hattangady. “The United States has long been the greatest proponent of nuclear proliferation. Not in words mind, but in actions. The development of the atomic bomb and the 40 year arms race made the hope and possibility of nuclear destruction engaged and motivated the rest of the world. All of a sudden the measure of maturity was the number of warheads and now Iran has joined that club, almost.”mohammed mosaddeq

While not official yet, it is expected that the U.S. military will throw its support behind the still nascent Iranian nuclear program now that they have come as far as they have. They have not officially declared support and such proclamations are not expected, but will likely be working behind closed doors to facilitate the growth of the program.

“It’s in the United States best interest to have a another nuclear ally in the world and the coming together of these two countries in particular is, well, it’s almost like fate. From the overthrow of Mossadeq, to the hostage crisis, to the erratic support in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict these two nations have really written a love story like no others in history. Argumentative sure, but love, absolutely,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Now that the Iranians have come this far with their nuclear program and with the new administration so keen on healing wounds, U.S. participation in the Iranian nuclear program seems more inevitable than possible.” casablanca

The Iranian government has repeatedly denied that their nuclear program is for anything other than power generation, proclamations which have fallen on deaf ears in the United States.

“Love moves in strange ways and love stories don’t work out like they do in the movies,” continued Hander. “These kinds of things are one of the great mysteries of the human condition. Far, far more difficult to master than the Atom ever was.”
