RUSSIA STORMING ANYTHING THAT EVEN LOOKS UKRAINIAN IN CRIMEA
March 23 2014
Simferopol, Crimea – So long as there is an official Ukrainian presence in Crimea, there will be some kind of threat to Russia and their apparent rule over the region, something they are more than aware of. With everything still pretty unstable, solidifying rule is something the Russian are apparently eager to do and so that is what they have done.
In addition to adopting the constitution of Crimea and all that, Russia has continued to pour forces into the Crimea region which has further strengthened their position. That has also put them in a prime position to, like, defend against any surge from Ukrainian troops if they get it in their head to do such a thing.
To further dissuade such an idea, to just get it out of the heads of the Ukrainians forever, Russian forces yesterday stormed multiple Ukrainian bases throughout the region and made everything really tense for a little while. No one died or anything and apparently no shots were fired but the very notion that Russia would be willing to go out and do a thing like that, well, that probably does not bode well for how things are going to go in the future there.
One person was injured in the assaults but if things keep up as they have done it is entirely possible, nay likely, that it will happen again and that time someone will in fact be injured.
Ukrainian forces have done nothing to Russian forces in the region but then they wouldn’t, it’s not like there is much they can really do anyway.
The principle reason for the attacks is believed to be because they are Ukrainian, no other reason at all, they didn’t do anything, just that they are full of Ukrainians.
“I guess this was inevitable, it had to happen, there was just no way that Russia was going to accept Ukrainians all up in their stuff once they had taken charge of Crimea, that was just not a situation that was going to be able to be sustained and so something like this had to happen eventually,” said Scrape TV International analyst Gustav Hander. “Ukraine could have pulled out I guess but they still have this dream of holding onto Crimea and so they stayed. That is not going to happen of course, never going to happen, and that might have gotten them into this trouble. I guess it doesn’t hurt to dream, especially when you are putting other people on the line for those dreams.”
Ukrainian troops in Crimea are presumably not very happy at the moment, understandably so.
“The best thing really would be for Ukraine to just pull their people out and be done with it. That would probably be the smartest thing for them to do but that is not the most likely thing for them to do, I would bet. They seem real eager to keep this place despite absolutely everything working against that happening,” continued Hander. “The whole thing is terrible, really, and it’s only going to get worse if one side stays around way after their welcome has worn out, which really does seem to be the case right now, honestly.”
Ukrainian soldiers are apparently cool with leaving if that is what the government wants.
