MUSLIM WOMEN MAY BE FORCED TO GO NAKED IN FRANCE
May 11 2010
Paris, France – The people of France have always prided themselves on their progressive attitudes towards the world. Whether in the realms of art, science, philosophy, fashion, finance, or politics the French have always held a progressive
outlook on the world, and outlook that has more often than not helped to change the world. The influence of France has degraded in recent years, scaled back from the heights of ruling huge sections of the world from Haiti to Vietnam, but the history of the nation ensures that when it comes to all matters of import, their voice will be heard.
Now though the government has embarked on one its most controversial endeavours, am initiative that could not only foment an uprising within the country but also bring about a change in attitudes from many nations across the world. At issue is the dress of Muslim women throughout the country. France, due to their rule over countries such as Algeria and Tunisia, has one of the largest Muslim diasporas in Europe, something particularly controversial in today’s world. The French though, ever creative, believe they have a solution to Muslim extremism inside their borders and are considering forcing all Muslim women to doff their clothing while in public.
“It’s funny that this has become such a controversial point because the one thing the French and the Muslim world have in common is an obsession with clothing. The fact that clothes have become such a sticking point between the two communities is just kind of perfect. At first the issue was just the face gear that women wear, but there was so much controversy over that it became necessary to change tactics,” said French expert Dave Kinling. “It was really going to be a major constitutional issue to force women to remove burqas and other similar dress so the best solution is simply to make them go without any kind of clothing. They are still going to have a struggle trying to get that through and enforce it, but eventually it will pass and become law.”
One proposal is making all women go without clothing in order to prevent any appearance of discrimination.
“I can’t say that this is the best fashion choice that has ever been made in France. After all the right clothing is generally much, much better than no clothing even in such a progressive country like that. They are also going to have to worry about things like hygiene and children seeing a nation of naked women, even the children’s mothers which could be quite traumatizing,” said Scrape TV European analyst Gillian Weismann. “This has been tried before, though not to prevent terrorism. Many communist states had laws that allowed women to go naked and some, like Bulgaria and Romania still do. That is due to the fact that very few people in those countries are able to afford clothes in the first place so simply allowing people to go without was the best solution for everyone.”
The increased availability of clothing has often been cited as one of the reasons for the collapse of the Soviet Union.
“It will be interesting to see whether or not other countries follow suit. The United States has already declared that they won’t tell people what to wear, but they have never said anything about whether or not they will tell them what not to wear,” continued Weismann. “It is, after all, difficult to hide bombs when you are naked. I mean not all Muslims are terrorists but a lot of terrorists are Muslims and so by making everyone naked they will prevent a lot of headaches, in a kind of sexy way.”
Muslim men in France are reportedly putting up ‘fierce’ protests over the plans.
