SPANISH PLANE CRASH LEAVES RACISTS ALIVE
August 20 2008
Madrid, Spain – As the clean up continues and the investigation begins into the devastating plane crash that left 149 people dead in Madrid, officials have confirmed that the majority of the dead had little or no racist tendencies that they can ascertain at this time.
The Spanish airliner, bound for The Canary Islands, appears to have crashed shortly after takeoff. At this time it appears 28 people have survived the crash.
“We have had a major accident,” said a government spokesperson. “We are still sorting through the wreckage and are beginning the investigation. We are also in the midst of contacting the families of those aboard.”
The spokesperson also went on the say that so far, none of the people killed appeared to have any racist or prejudicial leanings. “Of course, since such a significant portion of our population is racist, it’s likely there were a few. We can only hope that it was a minimal number and that principally tolerant people were killed.”
Spain has come under fire in recent weeks with the revelation of racist photographs of the men’s and women’s Olympic basketball team. Spanish sports fans in particular have had a long history of racist taunts, but the feelings seem to be morewidespread than just with sport.
“Spaniards do nothing wrong, especially in regard to race,” said Spanish Foreign Minister D. Miguel Ángel Moratinos Cuyaubé. “The gestures made by our sports teams were a jest, a joke, not a comment and should be taken as such. We have believed the criticism levied against our teams as a result of this was merely propaganda from the Chinese government and does not express the opinion of the rest of the world. We are racist, and proudly so. We believe racialism is an important and fundamental part of world society and must be encouraged throughout the world. Right now is not the time for this discussion though; we must mourn the deaths of our fellow Spaniards.”
It appears as well that a number of passengers were foreign nationals, adding to the Spaniards relief.
“If they are not Spanish than they are not as important to our national pride. It relieves us to know that it was not only our people that were killed,” continued the minister.
Already grief has turned to anger as families begin to turn their anger towards the airline, specifically its parent company SAS, a Finnish based company.
“We will have a thorough investigation,” said Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Zapatero. “If this was because of negligence or action by foreigners we will uncover it. We cannot allow Spanish citizens to come into harm’s way at the hands of foreigners.”
The Prime Minister was apparently ‘relieved’ that the majority of Spaniards killed appeared out to be racially tolerant.
