EXERCISE CAUSES PEOPLE TO LOSE WEIGHT, FAST FOOD CHAINS JOIN PROTEST

Feb 4 2008

Peekskill, New York – In a move seen as a paradigm shift in the obesity battle, five major fast chains have joined the EGN, Exercise is Good for No one lobby, in an effort to stem the tide of exercise and weight loss happening across the country. McDonalds, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut have now thrown their weight behind this upstate New York based group.

Already a powerful lobby group in Washington, this move is seen as a death knell for the already struggling exercise industry. “This is the result of a lot of hard work by all our people. Having the support of these major companies is an incredible advantage to our organization.” Says Albert Watson, President of the EGN, “We will now be able to bring to a much broader audience the message that all exercise will do is make you lose weight and live longer. We cannot raise our children to believe this is a healthy way to live their lives.”

Their most recent success’ have included the cutting of gym class and extracurricular sports in several districts in Pennsylvania, and the closure of  several fitness clubs in Alabama. This new collaboration is sure to be a fresh phase in their fight.

“It is very disappointing that major corporations like these have aligned themselves with what we frankly see as a radical organization.” Says Arthur Wu, president of 4U Exercise, a national chain that has been targeted by the EGN in the past. “People who exercise also eat fast food. If nothing else, this causes them to isolate an entire segment of their potential consumer base. It just doesn’t make any sense to us.”

Representatives from all five companies involved gave a terse “no comment” when asked about the new alliance.

The intent now is to bring this new found pressure to Washington in an effort to bring wider awareness to the exercise issue.

“All companies have an obligation to protect their corporate interest. This is America after all, land of the free.”  house representative Arnold Hasselbaum said in a statement. “We must encourage freedom for all corporations to pursue business in any way they see fit. The United States has become the great nation it is because of consumption, not by exercise.”   exercise class

“This is a great day for America,” Watson continues. “No longer will American citizens be subject to a corporate elite who want you to sweat and exhaust yourself for their own financial gain. No longer will these corrupt organizations be able to build empires on the backs of hard working Americans. We hope this is the dawning of a new day for the American people.”

When asked what this new alliance will be doing to promote their cause, Watson stated “We will be adding this marketing power to our cause. We will be placing information panphlets in all locations and hope to place advertisements on food packaging. We will expand our presence from there. We are in this battle for the long haul.”
