OBAMA REACHING OUT TO ANGELINA JOLIE
November 28 2009
Washington, D.C. – Much has been made of Barack Obama’s attempts to reach out to all corners of the political spectrum. In many ways he has made a lot of headway in opening up the dialogue between the United States and countries that once felt on
the outs. That has helped to further Obama’s personal celebrity – even earning him a Nobel Peace Prize – and started to alter the world’s view of the United States which had been so tarnished after years of war and stern obstinacy from the previous administration.
What the long term payoff for those efforts might be is something that remains to be seen but there’s little doubt in anyone’s mind that Obama’s efforts will have a result, either positive or negative. As successful as he has been overseas, Obama’s success hasn’t exactly been the same at home. With right wing pundits picking at every move and left wing support starting to dwindle in the face of limited results, Obama’s biggest challenge may not be terrorism or the economy but simply re-election. Now comes word of a potentially devastating blow to
the President as one of Hollywood’s finest removes her support for the President, potentially signalling a change not only in the city but in the attitude of the Democrats wealthiest support base.
“She hates him. She's into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise. Angie isn't Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors. She and Brad get in nasty arguments all the time about it. She doesn't respect Brad when it comes to politics, but, in the end, this won't tear them apart,” said a source to Us Weekly. “Angie had a lot of trepidation about Obama in the beginning and much of that has unfortunately come to fruition. She kept her mouth shut at the beginning hoping that he could come through on some of his promise but now she just can’t keep quiet about it.”
Jolie has been one of the biggest Hollywood stars in recent years due in large part to her marriage to Brad Pitt, who became famous for being in really popular movies. Jolie is also a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador and has a lot of children.
“The President has heard about this and is deeply concerned. He’s knee deep in this state visit with the Prime Minister of India but he is getting his top people on it. He realizes that just ditching the Prime Minister would be insulting and would look bad on the Presidency but he can’t just sit idly by and let something like this go on. It’s foremost on his mind,” said a White House insider. “The President has long enjoyed the support of Hollywood, as have all Democrats, and they can’t afford to lose any especially Jolie. She comes out and talks about politics all the time and according to newspapers at least people listen to her so the President realizes that she is a lynch pin for success in Hollywood.”
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is currently in Washington on the first official state visit the President has had thus far into his Presidency. India has the second largest population in the world and one of the fastest growing economies. Angelina Jolie has a new movie, ‘Salt’, coming out next summer.
“The one area of support that Democrats cannot afford to lose is in Hollywood. It’s not so much the votes that are an issue, it’s their influence. I don’t know of a single democrat personally that doesn’t sit up and listen when Angelina Jolie speaks, whether it about political issues, adoption, or Brad Pitt,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “I imagine that as soon as this visit is over the President will be making his way out the coast to discuss this in person with Jolie. He can’t like something like this fester or all will truly be lost.”
Obama’s popularity has been plummeting in recent months, putting him just ahead of Jolie’s father Jon Voight, a Republican.
