RONALD REAGAN’S GHOST COMES BACK TO LEAD REPUBLICAN PARTY

New York, NY – There is perhaps no Republican politician more admired as much as Ronald Reagan. Dividing the line between Republican and Democrat the former President has inspired affection from all Americans especially so in the years following his death. Though his tenure was filled with controversy, many of those incidents
have faded with age leaving a legacy of diplomacy and un-adulterated patriotism that has inspired a generation of Americans. Because of that affection, Republicans have often channelled Reagan’s name for their own purposes, and now it seems that effort has had a surprising result.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, former first lady Nancy Reagan has claimed that she often feels the presence of the former President in her home five years after his death. A stated believer in the afterlife and an attendee of séances, Reagan went on to say that she sees the President and even speaks to him. With a search for identity very much on the minds of all those in the Republican party, officials have already begun speaking to the first lady and psychic investigators in hopes of having Reagan come back to lead and inspire the party.

“John McCain used Reagan’s name quite a lot through the campaign. He’s one of those personalities that appeals to the hardcore followers and the casuals. He’s also just past the active memory of most of the young
members of the Republican Party so they can ignore his indiscretions and see him almost as the wise old man of the party without any taint. In a lot of ways he’s the ideal icon for the party,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “The difficulty with that has been the fact that he is dead. Talking about someone and using carefully edited clips isn’t the same thing as having the man himself. A lot of Democrats derided the use of him despite the fact that Obama frequently invoked both Kennedy and Lincoln, but it seems they either had a very big trick up their sleeve or they stumbled on something that could change the party and politics forever.”

Thus far Republican officials have been hesitant to detail what plans they have for the living spirit of the former President, due in part to the technical limitations imposed by having to deal with the spirit realm. Already Democratic officials have begun to attack the plan, though have stopped short of commenting on the move to the afterlife.

“Democrats have a very tough game to play here. One, they have to overcome the sheer power of Reagan and the marvel of bringing his ghost to public recognition. Two, they have to be wary of out and out condemning the process for fear of being perceived as irreligious. Many Americans hold very deep religious belief and ghosts and the afterlife are the embodiment of that,” continued Kinsey. “Those are hurdles that are far more difficult to overcome than a simple economic or foreign relations issue and could provide the Republican party with the momentum they need going into the next round of senate elections and of course for 2012. Unfortunately for the Republicans Reagan was a two termer and won’t be eligible to run.”

There is some debate about the limitations of actually bringing a spirit into the modern world. Thus far ghosts have been the stuff of stories and folklore but there has been no conclusive proof of their existence or how they would behave in a political realm.

“Hollywood and literature have long mined the spooky tale to scare audiences and put dollars into their pockets. Unfortunately the real world has never quite matched
Hollywood in this realm and ghosts have never really materialized. Thus far the Republican Party has never shown the ability to successfully return the dead to the living world so it’s quite a leap to assume that they would be suddenly able to do that now,” continued Kinsey. “Of course if they were to accomplish such an act it wouldn’t be long before the Democrats start to do the same thing. Truth be told, JFK would probably garner a whole lot more attention and love. This game will have to be played on integrity not gimmicks and if the Republican’s can’t corner that it’s likely they will be in the same position they were before starting all this.”

Both sides are reportedly debating over who would get the spirit of Lincoln.
