STORMY DANIELS PURSUING SENATE SEAT AS PORN INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO SLIDE
February 14 2009
New Orleans, LA – Article one of the US constitution outlines the composition and powers of the legislative branch of the country. Comprised of seven clauses, the fundamental structure of the United States Constitution, and the very nature of American democracy itself, is stated very simply and clearly. Realizing the importance of the legislative branch, the founders of the country ranked it ahead of even the
executive in terms of power. It is also the only Article in the constitution that explicitly restricts amendments, making it all the more difficult to modernize in the face of new challenges such as the introduction of porn.
Among the many things the founders of the country likely were unable to predict was a person named Stormy Daniels, one of the biggest adult film stars in the world. The actress, whose resume includes movies such as ‘Busty Beauties 2’, ‘Finally Legal 7’, and ‘Space Nuts’, is reportedly considering a run at the United States senate seat from her home state of Louisiana in 2010. Daniels, who retired from films in 2008, has been encouraged to make the run after a grounds roots campaign by a group of fans.
“The reality is two-fold for Daniels I think. She has gotten to an age where performing in films is not a desirable either for her or for the industry, plus the entire field has seen a major reduction in its profits in recent years,” said Scrape TV Business analyst Ken Green. “With the porn industry advocating for a portion of the bailout package though, one would have to call into

question her loyalties. I’m sure that if she does indeed make a run at the senate that will come up in the campaign.”
Incumbent Republican Senator David Vitter is also expected to run for the seat. Daniels is currently not affiliated with any party.
“Originally, the focus wasn't even about making me as a candidate. I think it was about bringing attention to the Senate race in general. Then the response was overwhelmingly positive. And I think everyone is just running with it,” said Daniels. “Politics can't be any dirtier of a job than the one I am already in.”
Vitter, who was embroiled in a prostitution scandal in 2007, has B.A.’s from Harvard and Oxford and previously served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives and a member of the Louisiana House. Daniels has served as a contract performer for Wicked pictures and directed a number of adult films.
“The debate as to whether or not this is a publicity stunt of some sort is of course going to rage for a long time even if Daniels does make a legitimate run at the position. She doesn’t really have any kind of qualifications that would lead one to believe she has what it takes to be a senator. Of course neither did Ronald Reagan or Arnold Schwarzenegger,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “The one advantage she does have is honesty. There are no illusions about what she is and the same can’t be said for politicians. I mean she’s literally laid herself bare for the entire world to see and that level of honesty might be a refreshing change for the voters. Of course her complete lack of legislative experience is a detriment. Proficiency at hand-

jobs or pegging isn’t exactly a traditional prerequisite for sitting in the senate, though it could come in handy, so to speak."
Vitter for his part has dismissed Daniels potential candidacy as a publicity stunt but the star herself insists otherwise.
“Originally, the focus wasn't even about making me as a candidate," Daniels said. "I think it was about bringing attention to the Senate race in general. Then the response was overwhelmingly positive. And I think everyone is just running with it.”
Aside from making a stir on the senate floor, should Daniels prove to be successful she will have made a significant leap forward for adult stars across the board.
“Traditional adult stars have had trouble making it in the mainstream world, specifically in film. She wouldn’t be the first porn star to make a run at political office but the first serious one in the U.S., if you can call being from Louisiana serious,” continued Kinsey. “Who knows what kind of doors this will open if she is successful. From pimps to drug dealers all the members of society that people look down on may have a shot at becoming President. It appears Obama truly has changed American politics forever.”
Support for Daniel’s senate run can be found here. It is not clear if Traci Lords is contemplating similar action.
