BIDEN TELLS VOTERS ROMNEY WILL BRING BACK SLAVERY IF ELECTED
August 14 2012
Danville, VA – There was talk, quite a bit of it, that the election of Barack Obama was both a sign and a signpost of the changing tides of American culture. His election, the theory goes, meant that the nation was well on its way to a post-racial attitude and that of course progress had already been made in that area.
Because of the history of the country, race is of course a very touchy subject for many in the United States. The long and brutal history of slavery is, at best, shameful to the majority of Americans and something they would rather not have in their history.
In history is though and rightly or wrongly it has helped forge the nation as it is today. It is a nation, though, with a black President and that is also very much a part of history now. Unfortunately it appears that some would prefer the old days to return, to bring back the days of slaves and slavery and of second class citizens. All of those people, according to Vice –President Joe Biden, are Republicans and if people vote for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in November their first act will be to put black people, including Barack Obama, back in chains.
“They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the—he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules–unchain Wall Street,” said Biden during a campaign speech. “They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.”
The White House distanced itself from the comments and no one, suspiciously, from the Republican side said anything at all.
Bringing back slavery would require a repeal of the 13th amendment which explicitly prohibits slavery.
“If Romney and his people did in fact repeal that amendment and bring back slavery it would be surprising to say the least. Obviously that isn’t something they are going to campaign on because it would be difficult to sell to the swing voters and other reasons I suppose but if they are going to do it we do need to know,” said Scrape TV Political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “That would impact a lot of people, bringing back slaves, and the American people need be able to make an informed decision about it especially those who would lose their votes.”
Slaves traditionally were not able to vote. Neither were Asians, women, Hispanics, or anyone who wasn’t white something which would presumably also make a comeback.
“Obviously doing that would be a huge change and it’s tough to see, at least right now, how that would improve the economy of the country as a whole but I guess people will get what they ask for especially now that Biden has revealed the plan for all to see,” continued Kinsey. “It is possible, possible, that Biden was just talking from the hip as he is prone to doing or that he is trying to demonize the other party in order to gain an advantage but if there is even a hint of truth to his statements it is something that needs to be investigated and explored because slavery, man that sucks.”
It’s not clear if there will be call for a President of the slaves but if so there is really only one candidate for the job.
