NEWT GINGRICH THREATENS D.C. WITH EMP ATTACK
July 3 2012
Washington, D.C. – With millions suffering in the blistering heat with no electricity all across the nation’s capital jokes, it appears, are the order of the day. Despite the traumatic and potentially deadly environment currently in the capitol, some people are still finding time for a joke or two including former Presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich, who recently stepped out of the race for the Republican nomination, has finally weighed in on the massive blackout across D.C. which could very well result in a lot more deaths before the crisis is over, something which may not happen for a few days at least.
In short, Gingrich joked about how the effects on the city would be similar to an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack on the city. Gingrich made the comments on his Twitter account in what seemed to be a joking manner, though some have not taken the comments likely and are in fact seeing the whole thing as a mild threat from the former speaker of the house who has an affection for science fiction based technology and weapons like and EMP.
“Friend and coauthor bill forstchen notes washington-baltimore blackout mild taste of what an emp (electromagnetic pulse) attack would do,” wrote Gingrich. “Forstchen's novel "one second after" is an amazingly vivid story ofsmall town's struggles after all electricity has been destroyed by emp.”
Gingrich did not add any kind of comment to indicate he was joking about the whole thing but that is assumed.
It’s not clear if Gingrich has access to EMP technology and if so why he did not use it during the primary campaign.
“What’s happening out there right now in D.C. is pretty bad and it’s not really the kind of thing that anyone, particularly someone in a position of prominence like Gingrich, should be making jokes about. Of course that’s assuming he is actually making a joke and not a threat which is a very different thing indeed,” said Scrape TV American analyst Dave Davidson. “It does kind of sound like a threat if you read it a certain way but I can’t think of a reason why Gingrich would attack his own nation. Scratch that, I can think of all kinds of reasons Gingrich would attack his nation but I just didn’t think he would get to the stage where he would actually do it. Hopefully it turns out that this really all was the storm and not Gingrich launching some last ditch effort to become President.”
It’s believed the people in D.C. are not getting the joke, literally, because the power is off.
“I think, frankly, given the fact that people are dying this is not the time to say this kind of thing. This is a time to come together and not a time to launch attacks unless of course you well and truly hate the country or just want to take it over. It’s hard to see exactly what Gingrich feels about the nation and so I doubt this is his doing. Frankly, I doubt he even knows how he feels about the country,” continued Davidson. “Still, he shouldn’t be making comments about attacking the country even if he is just joking, not while so many people are suffering so significantly. Of course being proper is not exactly Gingrich’s strong suit so I’m sure this will continue for the foreseeable future.”
Gingrich would likely launch such an attack from the Moon, it is believed.
