New York, NY – There are many things that will define the Presidency of the younger George Bush, but there is little doubt that the events of September 11, 2001 were the most important events he had to oversee. Everything that has come since, the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, the altering of fundamental government policies, the downturn in the economy, and the after effects of Hurricane Katrina will pale in the shadow of that starling day.
This September 11 will not only mark the anniversary of that day, but also act as an early going away party for the Presidency so affected by those events. Bush may actually leave office in January, but the real end will come in September. Realizing this, the government has put aside more funding for the celebrations this year than in any year previous.
“9/11 is of course not only a profoundly important moment in the history of the country, but perhaps more importantly it was the defining event of an important Presidency,” said Republican historian Gavin Hempstead. “It gave Bush a taste early on of what it was to be President, of what it was to have real responsibility, and that made him into the man he is today. That day has led to the greatest success the military industrial complex has had in its history. The number of people, from support personnel, to soldiers, to industry leaders, that have had success in the wake of the attacks is unprecedented. And we have George Bush and his office’s reaction to the events to thank for that.”
“Everything from the booming mortgage business, to the clean-up crews in New Orleans, Bush’s success has been unprecedented. While many people may look at those things as failures, they are just focusing on the negative. It’s important in life to look at the positives in life, and Bush has had many.”
To that end, the federal government has released a record amount of money for celebrations of the attack, with vigils, tribute videos, and war protests all receiving federal funding.
“That is one area of this entire thing that people tend to forget,” said Scrape TV business analyst Ken Green. “People have to make these candles, cut the videos, capture the doves. What we have seen is a massive growth in the mourning and protest industry. There’s an incredible synergy between that and the military that we have never seen before and that is driving incredible growth. This area is a whole segment of the Military Industrial Complex that had been overlooked, that even Eisenhower didn’t see. The Bush Presidency, perhaps by accident, has brought this industry into a whole new era. That might be his greatest contribution to the country. Call it the Sympathy industry, call it whatever, but call it money.”
There are of course fears that the bubble may burst, but most analysts believe that if the country can remain in at least a partial state of war, they will continue to see growth.
“The outcome of the election will obviously affect that,” continued Hempstead. “I’m rooting for McCain not only because I’m a Republican, but it’s obvious that he and Palin have a killer instinct and even if this current war ends, they are likely to start something new. Obama is too much of a bleeding heart to start a war, look at Clinton. We can’t go back to that now.”
9/11 celebrations will start September 10th and continue through the following week.
