Washington, D.C. – Pulitzer Prize winning Ron Suskind has made an explosive claim, writing that George W. Bush ordered the CIA to falsify a letter that enabled him and his cabinet to justify the Iraq war. The Harper Collins book is due to rushed into stores as soon as possible.
“It was a dark day for the CIA,” Suskind said today. 'It was the kind of thing where [the CIA] said, “Look, this is not our charge. We’re not here to carry forth a political mandate — which is clearly what this was — to solve a political problem in America.”
The accusation casts a very dark shadow in the dwindling days of Bush’s controversial Presidency and has led some to call for an impeachment of the Republican leader. While impeachment and criminal charges are unlikely, this latest accusation may result in a permanent mark on the entire eight year presidency.
“It’s an incredible claim, and if true, is downright abominable,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “I mean everyone knows they lied about weapons of mass destruction, everyone knows that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, but those things are old news. It’s a what have you done for me lately kind of scenario. I have to say though, there is something even more fundamentally wrong with this if it proves to be true. Lying is one thing, but putting it on paper, well that’s just devious. Destroying a country and leaving it in shambles in nothing when you compare it to actually having someone sit down and write out a fake letter. This is damning if it turns out to be true.”
Indeed this isn’t the first controversy to hit concerning the war in Iraq, which to date has claimed the lives of over 4000 US lives, and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis. But this paperwork fraud may be the most explosive to date.
“Everyone knows they didn’t get Al Capone on bootlegging or murder or any of those sexy charges, they got him on tax evasion. It’s the minutia that gets these guys in the end,” continued Kinsey. “Of course, considering how they won the first election, nothing is really beneath them. At least that was just a bunch of hanging chads.”
Inevitably, perhaps, the argument is starting to circle around the very nature of Bush’s first election win, which was in essence a paperwork win. Though details are few before the publication of the book, Suskind hinted that the two incidents might be more than linked.
“Look, people don’t start out just robbing banks. They shoplift a bit, steal from friends and relatives, then they hit the bank. You don’t start out from zero. There’s little doubt in my mind that they are practised hands at this type of thing.”
As yet, there is no date set for the book’s release.
