GOD MAKES DECISION FOR UNDECIDEDS WITH DEATH OF OBAMA’S GRANDMOTHER

Honolulu, HI – The death of Barack Obama’s grandmother will no doubt cast a heavy shadow on the Presidential candidate as voters go to the polls tomorrow to decide whether or not he will be their next President. As sad a time as it no doubt is for the Obama family, the death of the woman who raised him may very well swing many of the undecided voters in his favour and put him into the Oval Office.

Madelyn Payne Dunham passed away at her home in Hawaii after a losing her battle with cancer at the age of 86. Obama will continue to make campaign stops; the family will have a private funeral ‘at a later date’.

“It’s a sad and touching story, that he could lose someone so important to him on the eve of what could be the greatest professional success anyone could have. Just as it always has, it seems there is some other hand in the ascent of Barack Obama,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Those people who had the undecided option probably just flipped to Obama, and it’s going to be hard for McCain to drive any kind of negative message in these last few hours without looking like a jerk. Whether or not you believe in God something seems to be clearing a path for Obama. This pretty much cinches the deal for him.”

Obama has made little mention of the passing outside a joint statement with his sister,Maya Soetoro-Ng.He is not expected to speak publicly about the loss before election night.

The Republican campaign has also been knocked back by the loss. While neither John McCain nor Sarah Palin have made any public comment about the death, the spin doctors are desperately scrambling for fresh speech material and talking points in the closing hours of the campaign.

“McCain’s speeches have altered from active attacks on Obama to a push on the positive. He’s actually started to run a clean campaign for perhaps the first time. It wouldn’t do well in anyone’s eyes to be attacking someone whose grandmother has just died, obviously,” continued Kinsey. “They seemed to have a whole new energy and a wholes new focus and now those plans have been thrown for a loop, like pretty much the whole campaign has been from the start. They had about two or three good days there.”

Word from the campaign is that Palin has been largely muzzled for fear that she might say something embarrassing.

“She’s a maverick, and she may not be very bright, but she’s not totally stupid,” said a Republican insider who preferred to remain anonymous. “We’ve been able to tone her down in respect to this situation. Even she understands that attacking a dead grandmother doesn’t do anyone any good.”

There were reports that Palin at first believed this was a political trick and wanted to demand that Obama produce a death certificate, but she was talked down from that approach.

“We’ve focussed her on talk of winning, not attacking,” continued our insider. “Besides with all the silliness that occurred with Obama’s birth certificate, getting a death certificate would only prove to be a whole new set of headaches that the campaign really doesn’t need to deal with at this point.”

While few are seeing the death as anything other than bad timing, more than a few are taking it a little more metaphysically.

“Everyone thinks God is on their side but few ever have any proof of that,” said Kinsey. “Obama has had this unfettered rise to power and this almost just seems like the clincher. Maybe God is a Democrat after all. Or maybe He’s black. Either way, he seems to be working one side of this race.”
