JOE BIDEN AND SARAH PALIN TO FACE OFF IN BATTLE OF GAFFES

October 1 2008

St Louis, MO – As the two parties prepare for the Vice-Presidential debate, pundits are busy speculating which candidate will make the biggest mistakes. With Biden a proven gaffester, and Palin quickly establishing herself as an up and coming mistake machine, observers are torn as to which candidate will cause the most damage to their running mates reputations.joe biden smirking

“Biden is far and away the more experienced of the two candidates, and Palin is the fresh face on the scene,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Everyone expects mistakes and off  the cuff remarks from Biden, he’s the old dog  in this race. Palin on the other hand is new to everyone. She’s proving herself more than up to the task of embarrassing herself in public and is doing it in ways that Biden has never really dreamed of before. They really are running experience versus reform and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top, funny too.”

Both Barack Obama and John McCain are of course going to be the people most directly affected by the outcome of the debate. Whichever VP candidate suffers the most mental lapses, has the most verbal miscues, or even which one speaks their mind will undoubtedly reflect on their respective running mates. The question is whether mistakes that the two debaters will inevitably make will positively or negatively affect the overall ticket.

“If Palin hadn’t been in the news as much as she has been over the last few weeks, this debate would likely go down as a footnote in this otherwise landmark campaign,” continued Kinsey. “As it is, there is likely to be more attention paid to this debate than any from the Presidential candidates themselves. It’s like slowing down at a car accident; people are going to want to see bloodshed. The Daytona 500 of debating if you will.”sarah palin crazy

Days before the debate there has already been a series of epic gaffes on the part of the moderator of the debate, journalist Gwen Ifill. On Monday the PBS personality tripped in her Washington home causing her to break her ankle. Today it was revealed that she has been writing a book titled ‘The Breakthrough’ which will focus on Barack Obama and other ‘emerging young African-American politicians’. The book has called into question her ability to remain impartial through the debate, though she has stated that fairness will not be an issue

"I still don't know if he'll be a good president. I'm still capable of looking at his pros and cons in a political sense," said Ifill to the Washington Post. “And I’m a lightweight when it comes to making missteps, so to speak. Wait until the debate and we’ll see real pros in action.”

Barring major accidents or the release of a ludicrous self incriminating statement, the vice presidential debate is set for Thursday. Officials have confirmed that ambulances and spin doctors will be standing at the ready should they be needed.
