PALIN ABUSED POWER IN TROOPER FIRING: MAVERICK STATUS INTACT

Anchorage, AK – A state investigator has concluded that Governor and Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Sarah Palin abused her authority in her attempt to have her ex-brother in law fired from the state police, the so-called Troopergate scandal.

"Governor Palin knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda," the report states. “We acknowledge that the Governor gains great traction from claims that she is a maverick, but that does not allow her to break state law to satisfy personal vendettas. Public office can not under any circumstances be manipulated to satisfy non-governmental affairs under any circumstances.”

The report comes after a lengthy investigation into the termination of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan who claimed that he was terminated after refusing to fire State Trooper Mike Wooten. Wooten was married to Palin’s sister and had been involved in a bitter custody dispute. The report’s findings seemingly couldn’t come at a worse time for McCain campaign as they trail in polls only weeks away from election, but the Governor remains defiant.

“I’m a Maverick. I keep telling you that and mavericks do things their own way so that’s what I do. I can interpret the law any way I think is best, I’ll use whatever email account I want to use. If I am so blessed as to be elected your next Vice-President I will take those maverick ways with me,” said the Governor in a statement. “President Bush has shown that it is very easy for a President to change the law to whatever he wants to do and I promise as your Vide-President I will do whatever is necessary to run this country however we see fit, whether it is legal or not. That’s what a maverick does; a maverick gets things done.”

Palin has also come under fire for her use of her personal email account for state business. A judge in Anchorage has ordered the state to preserve any emails sent by the Governor from her personal Yahoo account which related to state business. Palin’s email account was hacked last month bringing into focus her habit of trying to keep state business off the books.

“McCain and his campaign have to be reeling right now, and if they are not then they have a strange sense of what the American people want,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “After that initial bump, Palin has made gaffe after gaffe and now all these skeletons have come out of the closet. McCain having picked her may have made the single biggest blunder in campaign history and has more or less handed the win to Obama and Biden. Palin meanwhile may not even have a job to go back to after November if things keep going the way they are going. I guess being a maverick can be taken a little too far sometimes.”

Though many questioned the choice of Palin in the early days, the criticism is now a clarion call even from high profile Republicans who are openly critical of Governor Palin and the failing campaign.

“For McCain this is his last shot. Palin had a potential career ahead of her but she moved too soon too fast and has been completely out of her league since the start,” continued Kinsey. “Of course this may all have been a part of McCain’s Maverick nature. He’s always been a little middle of the road politically; it might be that he deliberately screwed up the campaign in order to get the Democrats into office. There really aren’t any other conclusions that one can draw. Wonder who he’s voting for?”

Palin meanwhile remains steadfast, stating, “Mavericks do things their own way and I will continue to be a maverick. And Alaska has lots of oil which we need to shore up the economy to help healthcare and the war on terror and we’re doing this for Joe Sixpack.”
