PRESIDENT OBAMA AVOIDS ASSASSINATION FOR DAY ONE; UP NEXT, DAY TWO

January 20 2009

Washington, DC – As Barack Obama made history by being sworn in as the 44th President of the United States, the world inhaled a mighty breath. With the whole planet watching like it has never done before, supporters and critics from countries as far flung as Japan, Kenya, Germany, and even embattled Iraq watched as Obama and America changed their past and future forever. With the massive security presence in the capital it is little surprise that there was little surprise for the new President, allowing him to evade assassination for the time being.2009 presidential limo cadillac

Because of the nature of his lineage and his stated desire to make a difference in people’s lives, Obama is seen by many as a major contender to join the very short list of assassinated Presidents. In the history of the United States only four Presidents have been murdered, the most recent one was John F. Kennedy in 1963.barack obama at democratic convention

“Over the course of a hundred year period four Presidents were murdered in office and in the 45 years since not a single one has been killed. Reagan came close, but close doesn’t matter when it comes to death. Remember that both Lincoln and Kennedy were forces of change, people with real vision, and both people that Obama admires greatly,” said Scrape TV political analyst Gabriel Kinsey. “Vision and ambition tends to more of a target which explains most of the Presidents since Kennedy. Reagan didn’t have vision of course, or at least not a clear and consistent vision, but he was killed by a normal psychopath and not a politically motivated one.”jfk motorcade

With less than one day under his belt Barack Obama is currently the shortest serving President. Most expect the Obama and his staff to take it day by day, measuring length of Presidency against former Presidents. First up is William Henry Harrison who served for only 31 days.

“After Harrison you have James Garfield who is one of the special four. He served about six and half months. The doozy of course will be John Kennedy. Aside from the similarities between the two men, both have or had large heads in comparison to the rest of their bodies which makes them an especially good target,” continued Kinsey. “I don’t know if they have a calendar where they cross off days remaining but it might be a good idea. You get a sense of achievement when you can mark off the day’s you’ve done and see what’s ahead of you. I think that if they can keep the security profile strong they have a real shot on making at least a single term work. They’d be pushing it if they go for another four years.”william henry harrison

Of course possible assassination isn’t the only problem facing the new President. With two wars, a continuing economic crisis, conflicts throughout the world, and above all massive expectations, Obama may not be far into his presidency before wishing an assassin’s bullet would find its way into his skull.

"Being the President of the United States is without a doubt one of the most difficult jobs in the world. Even when you don’t try very hard it’s still as tough gig, look at George Bush. Obama actually wants to make a difference, couple that with the added threat of his race and the fact that people like him, he’s going to age much more than normal,” continued Kinsey. “Bush left quite a mess for Obama to clean up, much more so than the small amount of vandalism he had to deal with after taking over for Clinton. Obama too not only carries the expectations of a country and a race, but also the expectations of history. No one expected anything from Bush and that’s exactly what they got. In the scope of history it might be best for Obama to be assassinated. If JFK had gone a full 8 years there’s a good chance he wouldn’t be regarded as highly. Like great musicians and great leaders throughout history, expectation carries more weight than achievement. Unless Obama can actually deliver on the promise he brings, assassination might be the best thing for everyone.”

Coming up, day two.
