ARCHAEOLOGISTS FIND PROOF OF DAVID AND GOLIATH; MYTHICAL CREATURES CELEBRATE

Jerusalem, Israel – Archaeologists from Hebrew University have uncovered a potentially invaluable piece of pottery that may reveal the truth behind the biblical story of the David versus Goliath, pleasing giants and mythical creatures the world over.

Historians and Archaeologists have long debated whether David was a leader of a small unimportant tribe, or the heroic leader depicted in biblical stories. The discovery of the piece of pottery at the ruins of the Elah Valley fortress just outside Jerusalem may give credence to the story depicted in the Old Testament, which in the minds of many would give validity to every story in the Bible.

“The chronology and geography of Elah Fortress create a unique meeting point between the history, historiography and origins of the early Davidic Kingdom,” said Hebrew University archaeology professor Yosef Garfinkel. “This is the oldest Judean city uncovered to date, and its very construction has unprecedented implications on our understanding of this era.”

The home of Goliath, legendary giant leader of the Philistines, had previously been uncovered only a few miles to the south.

“The discovery is interesting and may prove that certain parts of the Bible are true, but does not in any way suggest that they should be taken at value. The only thing that would allow for that kind of assumption would be if the skeletal remains of a giant person were uncovered. That might cause us to rethink all of archaeology and theology,” said Scrape TV archaeology analyst Meyer Hernandez. “This discovery really means what most archaeologists have always believed. That ancient stories, whether biblical or not, have a basis in reality but have been altered and adapted through the ages in order to gain the best foothold in people’s imagination. There is nothing on the fossil record to indicate that giant creatures whether human or not have ever existed. There’s also nothing in mammalian physiology that would even indicate that it was possible. There may very well have been a David and Goliath, but odds are Goliath was just a really tall guy, not a giant.”

Meanwhile, researchers at the University of Athens have uncovered fossilized snakes dating from approximately 12th – 9th century BCE, leading many to the conclusion that Medusa and the Gorgons may well have been real.

“We are very excited by the discovery,” said head archaeologist Khristos Nikolopoulos. “It is very odd finding reptiles dating back that far and like any small discovery, it leads to assumptions of all manner and type. This could fundamentally alter Greek culture as we know it forever.”

The reptile remains were discovered at a dig site south west of Thessaloniki.
“Finding a knife lying on a floor does not mean that someone has been murdered. All it means is that someone has dropped a knife on the floor. We have to be careful not to give into wishful thinking and look at these types of discoveries sensibly,” continued Hernandez. “The type of leap in thought that is required to draw those types of conclusions falls not only into the realm of the illogical, but also the irrational. Scientists of all disciplines have to be above that kind of thinking or they are not scientists at all. They are theologians with university grants.”

There have been no reported discoveries of any other mythical creatures in recent weeks, though researchers continue to seek such entities as the Griffin, Golems, Manticores, and sea serpents.

“The truth is out there waiting for someone to find it and draw conclusions,” continued Garfinkel. “All it takes is a little digging and whole lot of imagination.”
