NEW MOON LANDING FOOTAGE GIVEN THE HOLLYWOOD ONCE OVER

July 17 2009

Washington, D.C. – Of the many great things that mankind has accomplished in our history – science, art, mathematics, philosophy, the pyramids, circumnavigation of the globe, flight, mapping the genome – there is perhaps nothing that has the level of awe and reverence than does our exploration of space. From the early days of sputnik Apollo 11 moon landing
to the modern days of the International Space Station, the hopes and dreams of the entire species have long been carried on the shoulders of the brave men and women who have broken the boundaries of Earth and set forth into the heavens.

Of all of those accomplishments in space there is perhaps no achievement as powerful or iconic as that of the first moon landing. Forty years ago Neil Armstrong spoke the iconic words as he became the first human being to step foot on a planetary body outside of Earth. That action and those words have inspired generations and resolutely marked a change in the course of human history. Now on the anniversary of that landing NASA has released new footage of the landing which was created in collaboration with Hollywood, presenting humanity with the clearest vision yet of what a moon landing would be like.Apollo 11 moon landing

“The conspiracy theorists are going to believe what they are going to believe but I can assure you that there is nothing being created or manufactured here. We are restoring and extracting data from the video,” said Mike Inchalik of Lowry Digital. “We have done work with all kinds of Hollywood productions including ‘Casablanca’ and ‘Star Wars’ so we know what we are doing. We have worked hand-in-hand with Hollywood for many years and we are ecstatic to be bringing that experience to NASA and the moon landing.’Apollo 11 moon landing

NASA officials have reiterated over and over that the footage released is merely restored from an original print. They have very forcefully stated that Hollywood techniques were only involved in the restoration of the film and not in its creation.

“There have been a lot of rumours and urban legends regarding the moon landing. Though that scepticism is largely misplaced there has always been a small amount of doubt in the heads of many people. That’s probably due to the fact that flying to the moon is such a ridiculous thing to do that most people couldn’t imagine it actually happening and so then assume that it didn’t,” said Scrape TV Science analyst Dr. Howard Poe. “Most of Apollo 11 moon landing rover
those people can easily be dismissed as kooks and conspiracy nuts but even forty years on this idea persists. Involving Hollywood studios is probably not the best way to dissuade doubt and being so vocal about the nature of their involvement also raises suspicion. Why are they being so proactive in insisting that the footage is real? It makes one wonder.”

Repeated tests, including a series done by the venerable ‘Mythbusters’ team, have disproven many of the critics complaints regarding the landing, something generally ignored by people who enjo the possibility of a hoax.picture of earth from moon

“I mean when you look at the restored footage you are able to see the seams a little better. That’s the thing with restoration and high definition. You see everything whether you want to or not and that exposes a lot of the techniques used to stage the moon landing and determine perhaps forever whether it was real or faked,” continued Poe. “My inclination is that that landing was real and that this footage is really just properly restored but they need to stop talking up how genuine it is so verbosely. People are going to get the wrong impression. Of course if it was fake it sure was a good fake, as we can clearly see now.”

NASA also plans to release more footage of the landing in September though are stopping short of calling it a sequel.
