Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Vikings remained silent today on accusations that they have made inappropriate contact with Brett Favre. Vikings spokesman Bob Hagan issued a brief statement today stating in essence that the team had had no untoward contact with the former Green Bay quarterback. Three-time MVP Favre, for his part, offered no comment on the situation.
A person familiar with the situation spoke to us on the condition of anonymity.
“It makes the whole situation really complicated. There was talk of Favre going over to the Vikings but that may not happen now. It’s really quite amazing that in this day and age and with a person of his stature that this kind of thing could happen, but I guess it happens everywhere now.”
The issue appears to stem from a meeting Favre had with Vikings brass, itself a significant issue being that the QB is still officially a member of the Packers, in which some type of contact appeared to have taken place. It is unclear as yet who is to blame for the leak of the complaint, though speculation is that the Packers, in a desperate attempt to prevent the Hall-of-Fame bound quarterback from playing for a division arch rival, either leaked or made up the story. Outside the brief statement, no one from the Packers or Vikings organizations was willing to speak with Scrape news.
“Football is a contact sport, everyone knows that,” continued our insider. “But no one expects contact in the boardroom. That’s what this world has come to I guess. It would be interesting to see how far this goes. I mean, Favre has put his hands just about everywhere while on the field, hopefully any decisions made in the shake down here won’t affect the on-field product.”
