FOSSILS FOUND ON MARS; ATTACK DEEMED LIKELY Washington, D.C. – In our long quest to understand our world and our place in it human beings have explored many options. From the Gods of the Greeks and Romans to Pagan traditions to the modern worship of single deities such as God and Waheguru humans have explored, created, and destroyed explanations for the meaning of life. For the last, few hundred years the rise of science has started to supplant such lofty explanations but still the meaning of life has remained elusive. The sheets of stars that lay above our heads every night surely inspire the imagination and force us to ponder our place in the universe but it is the moon, our nearest celestial neighbour, which inspires our love of the world beyond the Earth. Centuries ago cultures worshipped the moon, they built their lives around its appearance and disappearance. Today we do the same thing even though our worship has turned to scientific intrigue because as it was to our ancestors, the moon is infinitely fascinating. SEARCH FOR ALIEN LIFE STARTS ON EARTH Washington, D.C. – There are cave paintings from ancient Europe that depict massive flying discs hovering above an antelope kill. A French coin minted in 1680 also depicts an airborne disc flying over a field. In one of the most famous depictions, Domenico Ghirlandaio’s ‘The Madonna with Saint Giovannino’, painted in the 15th century, clearly shows a saucer shaped object with light emitting from every surface. In the modern day we have had tales such as a crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico. While all these examples are far from empirical proof of the existence of alien life, they tantalize the senses and the hope that one day we will in fact encounter life from another planet.
