OBAMA SURE SYRIA BEHIND CHEMICAL ATTACK, THAT’S WHY HE WANTS TO ATTACK, THAT’S THE WHOLE REASON
August 29 2013
Washington, D.C. – President Obama outlined the case for an attack on Syria a long time ago. Prompted by a whole lot of death in the country and criticism over the inaction taken by his country, which applied to many other nations as well of course, Obama set down a red line past which Bashar Assad and his regime could not cross under any circumstances.
They passed that line last week, clearly passed that line, at least according to all reports. That crossing has been the basis for all the recent chatter that has been made about potential military action in Syria by outside forces despite very limited evidence, that at least in part because the government blew it all up before inspectors could get on site.
Obama, though, has continued to push for military action. He has moved ships into the region and sent multiple people out to make the case for attacking Syria, even if it is in a limited fashion, to try and convince the American people and the world that this is a good idea. Now he has come out and spoken about himself and made it absolutely clear that he believes the Syrians used chemical weapons, that’s why he is doing all this, it’s really the whole reason actually.
“We cannot see a breach of the non-proliferation norm that allows, potentially, chemical weapons to fall into the hands of all kinds of folks,” Obama told PBS. “If we are saying in a clear and decisive but very limited way, we send a shot across the bow saying, ‘stop doing this,’ that can have a positive impact on our national security over the long term.”
It’s believed that explanation, of sorts, is really just to justify action he fully plans on taking whether people like it or not.
It’s not clear if Obama has more evidence than he has presented or is just acting on his gut.
“I would imagine that if President Obama wasn’t at least a little confident of the things he was saying, of the whole basis for this attack, that he likely would not do it. That’s just my guess but I doubt very much that he would just act because he wanted to,” said Scrape TV International Conflict analyst Mario Martinez. “That doesn’t mean he is right of course, the last President wasn’t right on a very similar issue right next door to Syria, but at least he is confident.”
Other officials have made the case that everyone knows, without a doubt, that Syria does indeed have a ton of chemical weapons, something they have not denied.
“Obviously Obama believes what he believes otherwise he wouldn’t be doing this. I mean there could be some reason beyond the chemical weapons thing, like the fact that he appears to have been backing a losing horse all along, but that is probably not the case, or maybe it is. Look at this way; in hundred years who’s going to care?” continued Martinez. “And realistically it almost doesn’t matter if Americans kill Syrians or Syrians kill them, the same people end up dead. At the very least it will make Obama happy and that it not a terrible thing.”
It’s not clear what the Syrians could do to dissuade the President at this stage, probably nothing though.
