HOLOCAUST MUSEUM SHOOTING LEAVES GENTILE DEAD

June 10 2009

Washington, D.C. – In the decades following the end of World War II and the holocaust there has been more controversy than in the years in which it was conducted. An open secret in the west, the extermination of Jews and other people that did not conform to Adolf Hitler’s vision of humanity was largely ignored as the holocaust victims in bunks
Allies sought to defeat a military opponent and avoid the nasty and unseemly challenge that the mass murder of millions caused. With tributes and denials in the six decades since, it’s fair to say that the holocaust is more popular now than it was when it was happening.

It’s that popularity that so compelled James von Brunn through his life and no doubt led to him walking into the Holocaust Museum in Washington and opening fire. The 88-year old World War II veteran walked into the museum spraying bullets randomly, killing one person who is believed to be a gentile. Von Brunn was quickly shot and subdued after creating chaos in the museum which had hundreds of visitors at the time but his attempt at a murder spree was dwarfed in comparison to that which he so emulated and did not kill a single Jew.james von brunn

“We were in the 'Remember the Children' exhibit. We were just exiting, and we heard shooting. I ran towards the glass doors to see what was going on. I thought it was a joke or something. No one was standing up; no one dared move; we were all very scared,” said one witness, who is not Jewish, to CNN. “Finally, I ran back towards where my grandparents were to see if they were OK, and there we stayed until further instructions about how to exit the building safely.”

Von Brunn was a well known white supremacist and Holocaust denier with a previous history of violent criminal behaviour. Despite a book and website espousing his views it is not believed that he was particularly well known or liked within the community and it is clear what kind of impact the actions of today will have on that perception.

“I mean if he had killed a Jew, even a single one, things might be different but by orthodox jew
killing a gentile, even a black one, well that isn’t going to do a whole lot in respect to how people regard him. Yes he did hate black people but this was the Holocaust Museum after all and it would have been almost poetic to have taken out at least one person of Jewish descent,” said Scrape TV Racism analyst Drake Douglas. “Of course poetry isn’t exactly what he was going after I suppose but it still would have been fitting. I seriously doubt though that this will do a whole lot for increasing his popularity. The hatred of Jewish and black people is often intertwined but only in a loose way. People who hate Jews often hate black people, but the reverse is not necessarily so. I’m sure the community will be split.”

Von Brunn’s age and his lack of recent experience at firing at live targets are being cited as the primary reason for the low death toll. It’s also believed that very few of the Jewish patrons of the museum were obviously so, leading to an inability to distinguish targets.

“In the years since the Holocaust ended there has been a lot of interbreeding between man with yamulke
Jews and other races and that often times can cause difficulty in distinguishing between Jews and Gentiles just at face value. Sure if they were wearing a yarmulke or eating lox in line it would have been a bull’s-eye but that just didn’t happen today,” continued Douglas. “It may just be that this was the last desperate act of an aging bigot. An attempt to solidify himself alongside some of his heroes but there’s a good chance that even other white supremacists will see through the act. I’m sure more than a few will also be upset at the bullets being wasted on a gentile as well and that won’t do him any good in the long term.”

The shooting has thus far inspired more attention than the entire Holocaust did during its run.
