Orlando, FL – The most recent arrest and release of Casey Anthony, the mother of missing three year old Caylee Anthony, has brought sharp criticism from parents groups and law officials. The ongoing saga of the missing girl who through recently uncovered circumstantial evidence appears to have been murdered, has been fodder for tabloid and mainstream press. One often overlooked segment of the population is applauding the turmoil.
“I got off on a technicality,” said David Hamilton. “I was accused of murdering a family of four. Now I’m not saying one way or the other if I did it, but I did get off. The trial was the worst thing in the world and I don’t envy anyone having to go through that. It’s just stress, stress, stress and it just goes on. I can’t imagine what that poor girl is going through right now. I mean really, if she did kill the daughter, well, trial and prison isn’t going to bring her back. It’s water under the bridge.”
Hamilton was speaking from his one room apartment, which also doubles as headquarters for his advocacy group Accused Murders for a Free America, AMFA.
“Too often murderers are forced to deal with the stress and indignity of the trial process and that needs to end,” continued Hamilton. “We are here to speak for the rights of all murderers, convicted or not. We need to force the American people into seeing that this type of thing is totally unacceptable. If you didn’t murder someone you wouldn’t want to be treated this way, so why should we. I mean, not that I did anything, just theoretically.”
AMFA has gained a small but loyal following from their website, even drawing support from the most famous free murderers of all, O.J. Simpson.
“Juice sent us an email just a few months ago. He is very supportive of our efforts. He’s really the poster child for our efforts because no one suffered through a trial like he did. But he went through it, survived, and is now living the life. He’s the example of the best and worst of the American judicial system, and the American dream.”
Hamilton’s organization has offered support to the Anthony family, but is not the mysterious source of funds that allowed Casey out on bail.
“If I had 500 grand I’d be on an Island somewhere. The reason I started this organization is because of people like me. I can barely keep up with rent. No one will hire a murderer anymore. It’s one of the last prejudices left in America. Hell, we might have a black President, and I have to live off baked beans and toast. This isn’t the America I dreamt of as a kid. It’s time to take it back, for the good of everyone.”
AMFA is also actively supporting the release of Kennedy Cousin Michael Skakel, and Eric and Lyle Menendez.
“I’m not stupid here. The high profile cases are good for everyone. One day we will all be free.”
