THE EXPENDABLES 2 EXPANDS BOX OFFICE DESPITE SPARKLE AND PARANORMAN
August 19 2012
Hollywood, CA – As expected, ‘The Expendables 2’ topped the box office, scoring an estimated $30 million over the weekend despite the tragic death of star Sylvester Stallone’s son Sage which has nothing to do with it. Other newcomers limped into third and fourth place with ‘Sparkle’, Whitney Houston’s death movie, scoring $14 million and ‘Paranorman’ a lackluster $13.4 million. ‘The Bourne Legacy’ plummeted to second place with a 56% drop, something that will surely make Matt Damon happy, and ‘The Campaign’ rounded out the top five with a solid $12.8 million in its second week.
