GENITAL MUTILATORS PROTEST SCANDANAVIAN EFFORTS TO CRACK DOWN ON TRADE

September 27 2009

Stockholm, Sweden – The process of circumcision has been documented at least as far back as the ancient Egyptians. With approximately thirty per cent of the male population of the world circumcised, the procedure is rapidly becoming more genital mutilation
acceptable as most western nations make recommendations encouraging the procedure in male infants. In women the process is a little more controversial with the majority of countries outright outlawing the procedure. Though widely practiced throughout Africa the growing numbers of immigrants in Europe has brought the procedure to Europe causing fresh controversy.

Across the continent, and specifically in the Sweden, Denmark, and Norway, the procedure has taken on a fresh offence prompting the governments of those countries to put much stricter laws into place. Those aggressive tactics have also become more pressing for those governments as they start to pressure foreign governments to crack down on persons who conduct such procedures. Though met with wide approval across Europe and amongst government officials in Africa the crackdown is drawing protests from the people whose livelihood depends on the procedure. For the first time those at the greatest risk are finally stepping forward and making their voices heard.

“This is a great offence and a great interference with our lives and our lifestyle. For too long Europeans have come into our countries and told us how to live our lives and genital mutilation
how to behave and we believe that is totally unacceptable. We will not allow foreigners to tell us how to behave or put our businesses at risk any longer,” said Abdi Ahmed, founder of the Female Circumcision Liberation Organization. “In order for our daughters to be free they must have this procedure. It is their right as women and our obligation as adults to make them into the best young women we can. Circumcision is a fundamental part of becoming a young woman and well will not deny them that because of some misplaced sense of morality from foreigners. We will not stand for their interference.”genital mutilation razor

Called Female Genital Mutilation through most of the world the process involves the removal of the clitoris, clitoral hood, the labia, and a narrowing of the vaginal orifice. The procedure is common throughout the Horn of Africa Region.

“The core issue here is whether or not Europeans have the right to step into another country and demand that they change their traditions and culture. The Scandinavian countries have a particular issue with this because they realize how at risk their population is. Because of generations of inbreeding their genetic diversity is quite low and so foreigners make the perfect vessels for breeding new generations, something that is inhibited by circumcision,” said Scrape TV Medical analyst Dr. Phillip Waites. “In order for those countries to be able to sustain themselves they are going to require interbreeding between natives and immigrants and mutilated vaginas really aren’t all that appealing to young Scandinavian men which significantly complicates the whole breeding issue.”

Representatives for those countries leading the charge claim that FGM is a serious health and moral issue for young women and that the act itself constitutes assault, exactly what the mutilators claim the governments are doing to their business.south africa rioter

“There aren’t a whole lot of jobs in Somalia. There really isn’t a whole lot of anything in Somalia frankly and these people have a very particular specialty that not only garners them a good living but also gives them a certain status in the country that they might not otherwise have,” continued Waites. “They realize the power Europeans have over their nations and so they are understandably concerned because it is not an idle threat. There is the real possibility that they will succeed in preventing them from mutilating any more vaginas and that has all of them understandably concerned.”

Exact numbers aren’t available but it’s believed that that the industry brings in millions of dollars annually, making it one of the leading sources of revenue for the country.
