ADAM BALDWIN OFFICIALLY APPLIES TO BECOME A BALDWIN BROTHER
March 25 2011
Hollywood, CA – There are many stories of successful families in Hollywood. The Fonda, Barrymore, and the Sheen/Estevez clans are just a few examples of families that have continued a legacy of film acting down through the generations, occasionally
with mixed results, but the legacy has continued. In an interesting aside to those kind of generational side stories are the presence of acting siblings – the Wilson brothers, the Arquette family – which have made their own unique contributions to Hollywood history.
Perhaps the most famous of such phenomena is the Baldwin brothers, Alec, Daniel, Billy, and Stephen. While it is perhaps not unusual for siblings to have similar interests and thus pursue similar career paths, the success of all four brothers is indeed unique. While the oldest, Alec, has undoubtedly been the most successful all the brothers have enjoyed varying degrees of success in a very tough business, seemingly independent of one another. For the better part of two decades the Baldwin brothers have been prominent Hollywood figures, appearing in hit movies and TV
shows and routinely making comebacks just when everyone had written them off. There has been too one other successful Baldwin, Adam, who has built a solid career for himself despite not being at all related to the famous clan. Now though, the outsider has made a move to the inside, officially applying to be a member of the Baldwin family and a true brother to the other famous Baldwin’s.
“The whole Baldwin thing has been a very frustrating thing for Adam for a long time. He has built a great career and worked with top tier talent, people like Stanley Kubrick, Robert Redford, Joel Schumacher, Tom Hanks, and Joss Whedon yet no matter where he goes people always ask him about his brothers,” said a spokesperson for the actor. “This thing has always overshadowed his other accomplishments and it has kind of gnawed at him, but as he’s gotten older he’s come to terms with it a little better and now started to embrace it which is why he’s made this application.”
Baldwin reportedly flew to New York to apply with clan elder Alec personally. The results of that meeting are not immediately clear.
“The application process is a very complicated one and there are a lot of requirements for the position but he feels he has done the leg work and would be a valuable addition to the family. He also feels that his unwillingness to cash in on the Baldwin name for all these years should earn him some points,” continued the spokesperson. “Also, because of his lack of drug addiction, religious zeal, and his stable and happy marriage that he would make a better Baldwin than some of those already in the family. He’s really looking forward to the opportunity and really, really looking forward to spending future Christmas’ with a new family.”
Fellow ‘D.C. Cab’ star Bill Maher previously applied for membership to the family but has rejected because he had worked with both Mr. T and Paul Rodriguez, something that may also derail Baldwin’s application.
“We feel very firmly that Adam can make a significant contribution to the family. He has a respectable career and is continuing to get work, something that has been a challenge for some of the other brothers, and he wants to join the family, is passionate about it in fact,” continued the spokesperson. “He would also make a great uncle to all the little Baldwin’s and help set them up to continue the family name. We all really hope this works out, it would make things so much easier for everyone.”
None of the Baldwin brothers have ever been asked if Adam is a part of their family.
