PRINCESS DIANA TRIBUTES STILL ANNOYING AFTER ELEVEN YEARS

August 24 2008

London, England On the eve of the eleventh anniversary of her death, the tributes to the late Princess of Wales are still showing no signs of letting up in her native country.

She was after all the mother of the future King.”

While this year’s celebration will undoubtedly pale in comparison to 2007’s Concert for Diana, for which 15 million people tuned in throughout the world, any anniversary of one of the most beloved Princess’s in history is bound to gain attention.

“The eleventh anniversary is obviously not as significant as the tenth, so there won’t be the same type of furor that we had last year,” said Scrape TV Royal watcher Edward Pennington. “Preparations do seem to be on track. Flowers are at the ready, stores have been stocked with extra tissues, and television networks have already cut maudlin and completely out of context pieces for broadcast. Landmine activists have also freed their calendars and ensured that that their websites will be able to handle the traffic.”princess diana flowers

Conspiracy theorists have also made their preparations, with many poised to exploit the new social networking phenomenon. Facebook has recently seen a lift in the number of Princess Diana themed groups, both tribute and dedicated to uncovering the supposed conspiracy around her death. Webmasters have updated their google adwords accounts and positioned themselves well in bookmarking sites such as digg.

“We’re expecting a healthy lift in traffic from the 29th to the 1st ,” said dig founder Kevin Rose. “Our servers are ready. We hope that the traffic boost will position us well, or at least better than Diana was in that tunnel.”

It has also been reported that Mohamed Al-Fayed will be at his world famous Harrod’s department store on the 31st handing out flyers and sharing his conspiracy theories with customers.

“The most important thing is that we get to the bottom of the conspiracy. The truth will come out,” said Al-Fayed.

Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister, has also expressed his support for the tributes.

“On this, the second anniversary for which I have been Prime Minister, I wish to express my deepest sympathies both to the royal family and to all those around the world who may not have known Diana, nor in many cases even been alive long enough to know who she was, in this time or mourning. We hope that this type of tribute for unsettled, undeserving, and possibly disturbed celebrities will continue forever. Britain needs Diana, much more so since she passed than we ever did when she was alive.”
