A-ROD BOOK REVEALS STEROIDS MAKE BASEBALL EASIER
May 2 2009
New York, NY – For Major League Baseball, steroids have become a plague of ever more epic proportions. From the accusations against former players to those against current stars in the league, the early inaction by the league has come back to haunt the entire sport with abandon. Now a new book focusing on one of the popular
players and steroid users, Alex Rodriguez, has brought that chemical demon back to the forefront.
For his part, the Yankees star has brushed off the most recent allegations detailed in the book which claims among other things that Rodriguez used performance enhancing drugs long after the time he first admitted and may have used in High School. While it’s unlikely that simply ignoring the book and the questions will make it go away, Rodriguez has decided for perhaps the first time in his career to focus on playing baseball, something which hasn’t been nearly as easy since he stopped using steroids.
“There are a lot of issues surrounding steroids and other performance enhancing drugs but one thing that has never been in question is the fact that they make sport a lot easier. People who
use enhancement drugs put on muscle much faster and in much greater quantities than players who don’t, which of course can be a major advantage,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “That of course is the biggest issue with steroids. The players that use them are stronger and faster and perform much better than those who don’t. In a way it’s really only cheating because some people choose not to use them and that really isn’t the fault of the users.”
Rodriguez has been a perpetual star in the league for many years, a reputation that has made him one of the
highest paid players in the league, which has pushed the issue of steroids into a new realm of controversy.
“Rodriguez is able to buy the best steroids in the world which give him a major advantage over layers who make less money. True many in professional baseball make good coin but they have agents and lawyers and families to support. There is a whole underclass of players that simply can’t afford the good drugs and will never be able to because they can’t enhance their performance enough to get the bug dollars. It’s a classic Catch-22 situation,” continued Marvins. “That says nothing for the minor league players who barely make a living wage. What kind of drugs are they supposed to be able to buy? You can’t support a family on Double-A steroids.”
MLB has made moves in recent years to try to prevent steroid usage throughout the league especially in the light of public revelations from former players, some of whom were major stars and possible Hall of Fame inductees. Many have accused the league of taking only superficial action to curb the widespread use of performance enhancing drugs, which the league has tacitly acknowledged.
“The reality is not many people watch Baseball anymore. There are a lot of teams and enough talent to go around. There are too many other sports and interests dragging

people away from sitting around for four hours night after night so they realize the best way to keep interest alive is to create chemically enhanced super players. It has also been suggested that the league has been deliberately forcing players to take steroids and reveal those actions in an effort to normalize the usage, which in the long term would allow them to administer drugs to all players,” continued Marvins. “I think many Yankee fans at this point would prefer Rodriguez to take drugs if it will enhance his on field performance. Until Steinbrenner can start fielding genetically altered players, drugs will have to be the next best thing. Like in normal life, drugs make everything easier.”
It’s not clear how much money the Yankees have plunged into genetic engineering nor if it will be applied to currently employed players.
