STEELERS EYEING VICK AS POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT AFTER ROETHLISBERGER RAPE CHARGES
July 21 2009
Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Steelers have always had tough teams. With names like ‘Mean’ Joe Green, Mel Blount, and Jack Lambert lining the walls of Heinz Field the team that created the Steel Curtain and won more Super Bowls than any other in history has toughness built into its DNA. Borne from the hard and rough steel town
the team has always exemplified the nature and spirit of the city it represents. Because of that it should come as no surprise that many of the players on the team are as tough off the field as they are on it.
Though rape has never been considered an honourable crime amongst thieves it’s very criminality and violence has often earned the cat a certain level of grudging respect amongst the legions of criminals. A Las Vegas woman has now filed suit with that exact complaint against Pro Bowl Super Bowl winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. The woman has claimed that the QB assaulted her in a Lake Tahoe hotel room last year and though she has not contacted police, is seeking over $400,000 in damages. While the question of guilt will be answered in court, the question of who will front the Steelers is a question firmly in the mind of most Steelers fans.
“Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct,” said lawyer David Cornwell. “If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated.”
Roethlisberger is still expected, at this point at least, to start for the Steelers next season. Pre-season games start next month and the regular season in September. Should the QB’s personal problems become an issue
though the team will likely have to replace him, a task few teams would be eager to do, especially the defending Super Bowl champions.
“There are very few players that could immediately step in and help lead a team of this calibre back to the big game and those few that do exist are already playing for other teams. The only real option then is a player who has tremendous talent and proven leadership skills who no other team wants, and of course the only person that fit that bill is Michael Vick,” said Scrape TV Sports analyst Mark Marvins. “Yes he’ll be a little out of shape and he still needs to convince the commissioner to allow him back into the league, but he has tremendous feet and a great arm. He sees the field and can read defences. He’s also great at marshalling his forces, something his dog fighting exercise proved beyond a
doubt. He would be the most sensible choice to replace Roethlisberger should his rape situation get out of control.”
It’s not believed that Roethlisberger has any further plans for raping women or travelling to Las Vegas in the near future. Equally Vick has stated that he no longer has any interest in fighting dogs for profit.
“The best thing about Vick is that tough as nails persona he’s created. Rape is such a seamy crime that really doesn’t play well with many people even the tough people of Pittsburgh. They
do love Roethlisberger though and that will allow him a lot of lenience. Vick though
committed a man’s crime and did his time and for a team as hard as the Steelers he is a perfect fit,” continued Marvins. “Vick fits the Steeler mould perfectly and would be a sound addition to the team. Of course that assumes that Roethlisberger ends up in more serious trouble than he’s already in and that is something we will have to wait and see. At least the Steelers have an option and that may help carry them to a repeat of last year.”
Dog fighting has been on a decline throughout the Pittsburgh area, potentially making it less appealing to Vick should he return to the league.
