LESSER KNOWN SERIAL KILLERS PETITIONING FOR RELEASE

February 26 2009

Tampa, FL – Ed Gein. Ted Bundy. Jeffrey Dahmer. John Wayne Gacy. Henry Lee Lucas. The very mention of these names are brings nightmares to even the most hardened of souls. With nearly a hundred of the most gruesome and perverse murders in human history, the names of these men personify the horror and fascination that the public has with the serial killer. That connection though is something a small handful of people want to change, namely less famous serial killers.John Edward Robinson

Chief among those petitioning for a bigger share of the serial killer mindshare are Bobbie Joe Long and John Edward Robinson. The two death row inmates are the spokesmen for SKA, Serial Killers for America. The goal of the organization is to bring greater attention to the causes of the less notorious killers and petition for their release so that they will be free to grow their reputation.

“Simply put a very small number of killers have become synonymous with the term and idea of what a serial killer is and can be. We feel that restricting the connection to these few killers restricts the potential of serial murder and undermines the hard work that these men, and even a few women, put into their killing. We want the playing to be even,” said Edward Skasie, President of SKA. “Some of these names, even their faces, immediately pop into a person’s mind when the words ‘Serial Killer’ is mentioned yet most of them are dead. They do not benefit in any way by this association. We want to ensure a wide distribution of mindshare and give these killers the respect they deserve.”bobbie joe long mugshot

John Edward Robinson murdered 8 women over a span of 15 years. Long, a distant cousin of Henry Lee Lucas, murdered and sexually assaulted 10 women in a span of 8 months.

“Much like the victims themselves, the reason a serial killer rarely has anything to do with the work they put in to their job. It has more to do with personality, press coverage, and location of the murders,” continued Skasie. “Larry Eyler murdered 21 young boys. Raped them, disembowelled them, yet he doesn’t even have an entry on Wikipedia. His crimes were as brutal and as malicious as anything Dahmer did, yet Eyler is a nobody while Dahmer is a certified celebrity. It’s those kinds of wrongs that we feel we need to right.”Jeffrey Dahmer in court

The organization has pinpointed a handful of candidates they feel would be the best targets for release back into society. Amongst the criteria they used to assess the killers were age, location, and type of sexual perversion. Candidates were chosen based on most potential and sell through ability.

“This is our first go at this and we want to make a bang out of the box. We didn’t want to have some nitwit who would go out and get a job, use us to get free and then integrate into society again. We wanted some with a lust for blood and fame,” continued Skasie. “We aren’t dedicating these kinds of resources to also-rans. We want the best of the best and we won’t accept anything less.”Larry Eyler

Other names under consideration are Robert Charles Brown who confessed to 49 murders, Wayne Adam Ford who killed at least four women and was arrested with a severed breast in his pocket, Michael Hughes who raped and murdered at least 8 women, and recent arrestee Cary Stayner who murdered four women in Yosemite National Park in 1999. All are either serving either life sentences or are on death row.

“It’s going to be difficult to make the argument to a judge that you want these people released in order for them to commit more murders, generally judges and police frown on that sort of thing. There’s little precedent in law for releasing criminal in the hope that Ed Gein they will once again get into trouble,” said Scrape TV Crime analyst Willard Weston. “The advantages are significant though, at least from an economic angle. There haven’t been a great number of serial killers that have grabbed the public’s attention in recent years and that has lead to a downturn in related merchandising, specifically movies and books. There was a boom in the Eighties and Nineties but that has dried up. Who knows, with the way the economy is going this may just happen. It will give everyone involved a new lease on life, so to speak. We may yet see serial killers roaming the streets again.”

SKA has begun the legal process in at least 3 cases so far. They are also trying to secure financing to help integrate the killers back into society and enable their new killing streak.
